I had a good customer experience dealing with the company from start to finish. They did a good job answering all my questions via the chat bot on the website. I followed them for a few months on email before buying and liked all the good content they put out as well. Really seems like a company that is dedicated to making the world a better place.
I ordered my aeva unit and received it about two weeks after delivery. It came fully assembled and was protected with cardboard protectors and shrink wrap. The unit was delivered to my door then I brought it inside with my wife.
To set the unit up I had to plug it in, reset the power bar, and then set the timers. The timers are the 'old school' mechanical timers. These aren't fancy but they work well, all you need to do is push the little pieces up or down depending on when you want it to turn on or off. There is a button on the side you might not notice that I accidentally moved the first time and caused the water to be always on.
The seeds go into the holes, 95% of mine germinated in the first week and a half. The rest came a little slower. I was worried but contacted customer service and they let me know that this is normal. I guess they are living things so they can't be completely controlled! They also mentioned that any seeds that didn't germinate were covered under warranty.... aka if they don't germinate they are free!
The app is good for what it is, has digital guides for all the plants. It also has a reminder you can set to add water or nutrients so you don't need to remember. The water reminder is okay, I usually check it anyways by looking at the reservoir quickly. You can also hear when it is running low. The nutrients reminder is very useful to make sure that I don't overdose the plants.
Overall happy with the purchase. Glad my wife saw it and thought we should get it
