Meet The Just Vertical Team - Kevin Jakiela

Welcome back to our ‘Meet the Team’ series! This week we are introducing our other Co-founder and President, Kevin Jakiela.

Kevin completed his undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University where he majored in Chemistry and Environmental Science and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. He then completed his Masters of Science at the University of Toronto in Sustainability Mangagement.

Just like Conner, Kevin has been with Just Vertical before there was such thing as Just Vertical. The two University of Toronto graduates are the roots of Just Vertical. They’re literally where the company’s growth has stemmed from.

Kevin’s role includes leading research and development and operations at Just Vertical. Essentially, Kevin is our resident plant nerd. You’d struggle to find someone on planet earth with more knowledge about hydroponics, indoor gardening, and plant growth. If you listened to our first episode of our new podcast ‘In the Weeds’ you know exactly what we mean.

Let’s see what Kevin has to say about Just Vertical, indoor growing, and more:

What do you love about being a part of the Just Vertical team?

“It has a great culture and great people to work with.”

Why is indoor farming so important to you?

“I have been in the space for a while, it is a copmliment to the way of our food future.”

If you had to tell a new customer one thing about Just Vertical what would it be?

“We are a triple bottom line company where we care about social and environmental responsibilities, and not just looking to make a profit.”

What are two truths and a lie?

  1. I have an adopted cat named Romeo
  2. I love the Toronto Maple Leafs
  3. I can eat more pizza than Conner

Think you can scope out the lie? 🧐 Send us a DM on Instagram @just.vertical and we’ll let you know if you got it right!

Keep an eye out for the rest of our team members’ blogs in the coming weeks!
