Kevin, co-founder, saw what food insecurity looked like first hand while teaching at an indigenous community in the Canadian Arctic. This set off a passion for him which led him to complete his Master of Science in Sustainability Management degree focused on growing parameters in geodesic greenhouses in the Canadian arctic.
Conner, co-founder, has worked around the globe on sustainability challenges in both the business and legal worlds. He has an undergraduate degree from McGill University focusing on Environment and Development as well as a Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto. His research focused on how agriculture can continue to grow within society in a way that is beneficial to people across Canada.
Just Vertical became a semi-finalist at the Sustainable Brands Announces 2018 Innovation Open, where world-changing entrepreneurs brought unique ideas of solving some of the world’s pressing environmental and social concerns.
The Just Vertical team has developed a line of indoor gardening products, built several different commercial scale farms, and have pioneered research in nutritional density in hydroponically grown food.

With cities and communities growing so quickly across the globe, co-founders Kevin and Conner were inspired to find a sustainable solution to feed and save our planet. Together, they created a system that rapidly produces fresh food and preserves the earth's resources, all from the comfort of your own home.
The AEVA and the EVE promote sustainability through the use of significantly less water than regular farming alternatives. Moreover, our products help to reduce carbon footprint as vegetables and greens are locally grown.

We have collaborated with one of our amazing educational partners, Green Iglu, whose mission is to build, grow, and empower a food secure Canada by enabling communities nationwide to grow their own food using hydroponic technology.
Our partnership has enabled us to run a series of local Toronto-based educational workshops on how to grow your own food in the city.
Conner is an avid sustainability strategist and innovator. He has a breadth of management experience working internationally in the not-for-profit sector as well as tackling sustainability and innovation challenges in the agricultural industry. Throughout his career, Conner was recognized for his work as a Clean50 emerging leader and a" Top 30 under 30" sustainability and human rights leader.
Kevin is a chemist and plant scientist, with specialized experience in commercial hydroponics as well as addressing national health challenges across Canada. Additionally, he worked with Oxford County Health Department screening water for potential contaminants, and as an educator with First Nations Cree in Northern Quebec.
